Positions
Technician (Molecular Biology/Next Gen Sequencing) – Munich/Martinsried (MT02)

Exosome Diagnostics is a young company in rapid growth. Our German site moved into new laboratories in the IZB in Martinsried in fall 2011. We are seeking to fill a position as Molecular Biology Technician as soon as possible. As we are a small company you are expected to fill a lot of different roles and have a varied work day and a lot of responsibilities. We are looking for someone with experience in a variety of molecular biology techniques.
Key responsibilities include:
- Molecular Biology laboratory work to support Services projects and R&D.
- Following and developing QA work routines and SOPs to aid in establishing GLP environment.
- Processing clinical samples such as serum, plasma and urine.
- Library preparation and assay development for Next Generation Sequencing.
- Report and document results and progress to colleagues.
Qualifications and experience:
- A relevant education, e.g., as Technical Assistant, B.Sc. or Dipl.-Ing.
- 3+ years of working experience from a Molecular Biology Laboratory.
- Previous work experience in a QA regulated laboratory (such as ISO or GLP).
- Experience with a variety of molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction, amplification, sequencing and detection. Experience with Next Generation Sequencing is not a requirement.
- Previous experience with clinical samples or from a service laboratory is an advantage.
- Self-motivated and know how to prioritize and schedule your own workday.
- Systematic, meticulous and well organized.
- Familiar with MS Office and an experienced computer user.
- Comfortable with English in both speech and writing to allow close communication with colleagues, many of whom are located at the company’s facilities in New York City and Minneapolis in USA.
- Have high work ethics, high energy levels and a developed sense of humor.

Research Scientist

We are currently seeking an experienced Research Scientist for our New York City laboratory. This position will be responsible for providing key technical and intellectual input into the development of urine- or blood-based exosome assays for cancer, metabolic and other diseases. Candidate must have strong technical aptitude and a creative drive to solve challenging technical issues. Must be skilled in the art of molecular biology, carefully document every aspect of the work, have a strong sense for details, and work in a organized and methodical manner. Key responsibilities include:
- Assist in the design and execution of key experiments to advance the development and troubleshooting of the molecular-biology-based assays being designed.
- Provide assistance and training when required to aid the development of other team members, including junior technicians.
- Assist in the development of innovative solutions to achieve technology milestones.
- Support constructive and positive internal communications processes.
- Assist in defining and in developing innovative solutions to achieve technology milestones and to impact product improvements.
- Work cross-functionally with counterparts to develop overall product development, research and technology strategy.
- Maintain consistency, quality, standardization and discipline across product-development experiments.
- Maintain customer focus and understand the needs of laboratorians, patients, physicians, regulators and third-party payors.
- Must be able to work with human clinical samples (urine, blood and tissue).
- Be updated on current scientific literature in the field.
- Be proficient in the field of tumor biology.
- Preference given to those applicants with expertise in qPCR, RNA characterization, SNP analysis, rare allele mutation profiling and analysis, molecular beacon, scorpion or taqman chemistries.
A minimum of a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or relevent field of study is required for this position. The ideal candidate will have in-depth scientific as well as technical knowledge of gene mutations and gene expression-profiling and experience handling small quantities of RNA. Some background in bioinformatics is highly desirable. Three referees will be required, preferably with one being the primary PhD mentor.
Laboratory Technician (NYC)

We are currently seeking an experienced lab technician for our New York City facility. The laboratory technologist will perform complex experiments to generate the data required to support the commercialization of exosome technology for diagnostic applicatons. The ideal candidate is capable of problem solving and of being detail oriented, and thrives on working in a focused environment. Relevant experience includes:
- Familiarity with a variety of molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction, amplification and detection.
- Experience in virology, cancer biology, biochemistry or cell biology.
- Previous work experience in a regulated laboratory (such as CLIA or GLP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience with statistics, data analysis and data review.
- The ability to teach basic technical procedures and the proper use and maintaintenance of equipment.
- Excellent organizational skills, record-keeping skills and computer proficiency.
- Ability to work and communicate well with multiple investigators and to manage multiple projects.
- The individual should be able to work relatively independently and to help design protocols with appropriate controls.
A minimum of a Bachelors of Science degree in biological science, health science or clinical laboratory science and 1–3 years of experience performing molecular diagnostic testing in either the research or clinal laboratory settings.
Clinical Research Associate or Clinical Research Coordinator (NYC)

We are currently seeking an experienced clinical research associate (CCRA) or clinical resource coordinator (CCRC) based out of our New York City office to oversee and coordinate the implementation and management of research trials sample collection for company sponsored projects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast paced environment, able to work independently, capable of problem solving and detail oriented. Primary responsibilities include:
- Build and maintain excellent working relationships with primary clinical trial sites (e.g., research and technical staff, Clinical Trial Research Coordinators, Physician Investigators, hospital/office personnel) and ensure that the requirements of the company are met and maintained.
- Catalog and store serum and urine from multiple sites.
- Facilitate communication with physician investigators and others needed to conduct quality research.
- Work positively in person, by phone and via written documentation with physicians, nursing staff, research and technical staff, co-workers and study representatives.
- Communicate needs and requirements effectively, and convince others to follow a course of action.
- Maintain detailed records and execute study logistics and feasibility plans for clinical trials as assigned. Provide accurate progress reports on clinical projects by writing assigned clinical portions of reports for submission to regulatory agencies, Institutional Review Boards, etc.
- Remain current on regulatory/compliance standards and complete all study-related documentation and company clinical trials data according to IRB approved protocol, Standard Operating Procedures, study specifications and Good Clinical Practice.
- Demonstrate general computer skills to include database use, data entry, report retrieval, forms design, and document editing abilities such as Microsoft Word, Excel project or PowerPoint.
- Willing to travel on a limited basis.
A minimum of a B.S. in a science-related field or equivalent (four years) relevant experience in lieu of degree required. One year clinical experience in a health-care setting and/or clinical research required. Experience with cataloguing and storage of clinical serum and urine samples from multiple sites would be an advantage. Preferred qualification include Certification as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) or Associate (CCRA).
